I felt that this popular local history journal needed some more accurate information about the Huntsville Branch of the NC&StL Railroad. Keep in mind too, that these were written primarily for the non-railfan bunch. A lot of the information that I used came from my spending hours on end at the local courthouse researching deeds and land titles. The three attached Word Files are as follows: 1. NCelora.doc - discusses the first initial construction of the Huntsville Branch and how it stemmed from the Winchester - Alabama Railroad. 2. NCHobbs.doc - Goes into the extension of the branch and how N&C purchased the Tennessee and Coosa Railroad making this the longest branch in their system. 3. Oldrrbed.doc - Talks about most hidden (ghost) railroad that was built from Fayetteville. All three articles received lots of compliments from readers. Again, this magazine is distributed to a wide range of historians. Some people write about their ancestors, some write about cooking food and their secret recipes, etc etc. Me, I like to write about railroads. Please feel free to publish or post any of these three articles if you feel they are appropriate. They might sound a little "too local" to please the railfan crowd from all of the other various places. If so, no big deal. Enjoy reading. Bob
